But most people aren't starved for interactions. They're drowning in them.
What they're missing is interactions that go somewhere. That have texture. Where the other person is actually present, actually curious, actually willing to receive what you bring.
You can't solve a depth problem with more surface.
What we believe
It's not a connection problem.
It's an environment problem.
The third places vanished, and we replaced them with feeds.
The corner spots that weren't home and weren't work... gone. We swapped them for screens and called it connection. But feeds are not places. Your nervous system knows the difference between being surrounded and being held, and no amount of scrolling has ever closed that gap. The body needs bodies.
Attention is our rarest currency, and we spend it on everything but each other.
The phone in your hand is always quietly spending the one thing real connection runs on. Attention without depth is just interruption... and people have been interrupted enough. Put the phone away for two hours and something you forgot you had comes back online. We've watched people literally get startled by their own presence.
Walking dissolves performance.
For two hours, the default social contract — perform, network, impress, exit — is quietly suspended. There's something about moving forward, side by side, not making eye contact, that lets the guarded thing finally out. Therapists have known it forever. We put it on a trail and added strangers. The real conversation tends to surface right around mile three.
It was never you. It was the room.
Put the wrong people in the room and you start editing yourself — softening, translating, performing. Put the right people in it and you exhale. You are not one thing; you're curiosity and depth and play and all the parts you quietly stopped showing. The right room hands them back. And connection with other people, it turns out, starts with reconnection to yourself.
None of this is luck. It's design.
Loneliness is a design problem — which is the most hopeful sentence we know, because design problems have solutions. The magic on the trail isn't an accident. It's a handful of deliberate constraints: phones away, five miles, no agenda, bring a real question, be a good neighbor. Get the constraints right and depth becomes the path of least resistance. We call it engineered serendipity.
This is about much more than walking.
The walk is the delivery mechanism.
What we're actually building is the thing a person reaches for when they're tired of being lonely in a crowd and don't know what to do about it: an environment intentional enough to hold them.
Repeated. In person. Phones down. Built on curiosity instead of utility.
The loneliness you feel in a room full of people isn't a character flaw. It's a signal. And the answer to it was never try harder to connect.It was find a better room.

We are building a modern social infrastructure for meaningful connection.
The walk was never the destination.
It was the proof.
Proof that the loneliness people feel in crowded rooms isn't a flaw in them... it's a flaw in the rooms. Proof that you can fix it on purpose. Proof that a few good constraints and five miles of trail can do what a hundred networking events never could.

We're going to 100, and then past it.
Not to plant flags, but because the feeling deserves to be everywhere.
Because somewhere right now there's a person who's lived in their city for years and never once felt held by it, and there should be a trail near them on Saturday morning with their name on it.
